Hollym Publishers is hosting lectures on Saturday by two Korean experts on art and traditional architecture.

Dr. Yi Song-mi, professor emerita of art history at the Academy of Korean Studies, will speak about Joseon art.

Her lecture “The Ethos of Koreans as Expressed in Late Joseon Art and Architecture; Citadel architecture, Portraiture, Landscapes and Genre Paintings” will run from 2-3:30 p.m.

Jo Jeon-hwan, coordinator of Yiyeon Hanoak, will talk about traditional houses in his lecture “The Hanok Architecture in Rhythm: Spirit of Traditional Korean Housing and its Contemporary Adaptation,” running from 3:40-5:10 p.m.

Yi’s talk will be in English, while Jo’s will be given simultaneously in English and Korean.

There is also a prize draw for those who complete a short survey on the lectures. Prizes include books on Korean culture and tickets to Bibap, a non-verbal musical. To see the questions and find out more visit https://www.facebook.com/HollymPublishers.

The lectures will be held at the international conference hall of the National Library of Korea’s National Librarian Training Institute. To get there leave Seocho Station Exit 1 and walk about 750 meters. The library is on the left.
